Verse for Today – 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (Click to read mini-Blog)

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”

Read all of 2 Corinthians 5

From my perspective this is one of those Wow! verses.  If you want to give some perspective to your life… why you’re here and what it means that you’re a Christian… this verse should do something for you.

This week marks the culmination of Jesus’ earthly ministry… His willing self-sacrifice on the cross.  The sinless one took upon Himself the sins of His people.  “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”  (5:21)
This supreme act was motivated by the love and Spirit of God.  If you think about it, because He died and rose again (and lives forevermore) this same love and Spirit dwells in the hearts and lives of believers.
So yes…we too should also be compelled by the love of Christ… to do what?   Verse 20 has the answer… to be and to urge others to be reconciled to God through Christ.
