Hebrews 12:28

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,”

Read all of Hebrews 12

This verse comes toward the end of two of my favorite chapters in Scripture.  Hebrews 11 is the chapter on “heroes” of the faith, after which chapter 12 begins… “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses….” let us turn from sin and run the race marked out for us.

Believers are then reminded of how they should run through the trials and troubles of life, remembering that we’re to live as children of the King before His gracious presence forever.  This truth becomes the motivation to “be thankful” and reverent worship.

The final verse of Hebrews 12 indicates the seriousness with which we should hear and heed these exhortations:

29 “for our “God is a consuming fire.”
